Intermediate Level study in tonal expression from the ‘In My Room’ Collection
‘Turning the Tide’ is an evocative and expressive piano solo which was written to encourage the teen student through the complicated concept of rubato. It follows on from ‘Swept Away’ and ‘Awakening Valentine’, where the student has been given step by step guidance through the rubato process and may now use the suggestions given or change them out for their own ideas of how the music should flow. Ultimately, the aim is to encourage the student’s own interpretation from within a safe boundary.
Although written for teens, the pieces in this collection are all evocative and beautiful piano solos which are equally loved by pre-teens and adults.
