Arrangement of the traditional African American Spirituals for unaccompanied female choir in 4 parts (SSAA)

This arrangement presents a medley of three spirituals, beginning very solemnly and becoming progressively more upbeat, eventually combining two of the songs together before concluding with a short reprise of the first song.

It provides an opportunity both for immersing oneself thoroughly in somber, rich harmonies and for having a rollicking good time!  After all, these songs not only expressed a great deal of abject misery but also provided an outlet for finding and expressing great spiritual joy.
